Day 7: Seek Him Persistently & with Perseverance
2 Thessalonians 3:5 “May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.”
Galatians 6:9 “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”
Have you ever read the parable of the persistent widow? I encourage you to take time and read the short passage found in Luke 18. Right there in the first verse of the passage, we are told the purpose of the parable, …that they would always pray and not lose heart. She kept coming and knocking and asking for justice and the judge eventually relented to her requests. Now I’m not implying by any means that Our Heavenly Father gets annoyed with us so He finally gives us what we are asking for, however she does model how we should approach the throne of grace, with persistence and steadfastness. If a judge will give what she asks, how much more will our good Father give to us?
How is your heart being changed to look more like Jesus every time you go to the Father in Jesus name? How are you being molded by searching the scriptures for guidance? I think this is the purpose for God’s delay a lot of the time…that we will be sanctified to look more like Jesus. James 1 tells us to “count it all joy when (not if) you meet trials of various kinds, that the testing of our faith (possibly in times of waiting) produces steadiness. “And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.” Ask. Seek. Knock. Repeat.
PRAYER: Dear Heavenly Father, I confess to you that I am a sinner who loses heart so often. I lose sight of the grace you have for me in Jesus and panic. But Your Word reminds me time and time again that You are the founder and perfecter of my faith. I know You hear me, I know You love me, I know You know what is best for all of my circumstances. Please give me through Your Holy Spirit the grace to run the race You have set before me, that I will continually with perseverance and persistence come to You for anything and everything I need. In Jesus name, AMEN.
