Day 16: Wait, Pray & Listen
Acts 1:14-17 “All these with one accord were devoting themselves to prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.
In those days Peter stood up among the brothers (the company of persons was in all about 120) and said, “Brothers, the Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke beforehand by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus. For he was numbered among us and was allotted his share in this ministry.”
What do you do when you’re waiting? There’s times when you’re stuck in the “in-between” and it just feels like a blank space. Maybe you’re needing wisdom on taking your next steps or you have a big decision coming up. Wait & PRAY.
Jesus had been crucified, buried, and risen from the dead. He promised to send the Holy Spirit and told them to wait. So, they gathered in the upper room and began to pray. While praying, the Lord spoke to Peter and through Peter from the Scriptures! God gave clarity about Judas’ betrayal and gave them wisdom on some next steps.
Don’t miss how important prayer was in the in-between for the disciples. As they waited and prayed, God spoke from His Word. We all need to hear from God.
Slow down. Wait. Pray. Listen.
PRAYER: Lord Jesus, I need to hear your voice, but I’m not very good at stopping to listen. I am learning that you want my undivided attention, you want me, and I need you. Help me today to slow down, and make time to hear from you. Please speak to me. In Jesus name, AMEN.
