Day 5: Seek Him with Humility
1 Peter 5:5-7 “Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble. Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time He may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on Him, because He cares for you.”
Micah 6:8 “He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God?
There are so many passages in my Bible that I have highlighted that have humility as the subject. It is hard for me to just quote one today honestly. Over the years the Lord has really revealed to me a lot of areas of hidden and not so hidden pride in my life. He has always been very quick to give grace as I lay them at the foot of the cross and I know that He’s not done cleaning me up. I flip one page over in my Bible and James 4:10 tells us “Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will exalt you.”
In what areas in your life are you not living in full humility? In your job? On your social media? Is it even in ministry? Pray and ask the Lord to reveal areas of pride in your life and He will show you.
PRAYER: Heavenly Father, please forgive me for not always walking humbly with You. Thank You for helping me to see that it is impossible to please You when I’m prideful. Guide me and mold me to be able to walk out Micah 6:8 all the days of my life, to love what is good, do what is right, to love mercy and walk humbly with You. In Jesus’ name, AMEN
