Day 17: Surprised by Prayer

Acts 12:5-17  “So Peter was kept in prison, but earnest prayer for him was made to God by the church…”  (Read the whole story in your Bible)

They were praying with passion for Peter to be released from prison.  When there was a knock at the door, and Rhoda opened it to find Peter standing there, she was so shocked that she slammed the door in his face.  HA!  What a moment.  They couldn’t believe that God had heard and miraculously accomplished what they were praying for, even WHILE they were praying!

Do you believe God to accomplish what you’re praying for, even as you utter the words?  Prayer expresses your total dependence on Him to do what you’re unable to do.  More can be accomplished during 5 minutes of prayer than 5 days of activity.  Expect to be surprised by God as you pray, look for Him to do the unexpected, and let your faith be strengthened in surprising ways.

PRAYER: Father, you are working even right now, doing more than I can imagine.  I don’t know what you have in store for today, but I want to be joyfully surprised by you.  Hear my prayers, and do wonderful things.  In Jesus name, AMEN.
